Community Energy Focus Group 23/3
March 23, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
A facilitated discussion about future energy use in our community. TRY is inviting a cross section of local residents – young people, home owners, renters, full-time workers/retired/unemployed and particularly those who may not have been involved with TRY in recent years to participate in an informal guided conversation about future energy supply and what they feel the challenges and opportunities are for our community. By invitation only.
Being the Treasurer of the Yackandandah Cemetery Trust I am involved (with Trustees Paul Anderson and Dave Lerch) with the current applications for funding to provide solar panels and battery storage at the Yackandandah cemetery.Currently the cemetery has no grid connection (and never has) and the Trust is pursuing a project to convert all of its fossil fuel equipment to battery operated equipment in order to reduce the carbon footprint we are currently imposing. The Trust has been successful in receiving a grant of $8000 from Indigo Shire’s Community Grants Program and is currently seeking additional grants from the Department of Health (Victoria) and YCDCo.
The Trust has been most grateful for TRY’s letter of support to assist our applications.
Thanks so much Ian. We’re really impressed with the work that you’re doing at the cemetery and very happy to support you in your applications! It’s a great outcome for the community in reducing both noise and emissions (by using solar powered electric tools). Fingers crossed for the grant outcomes! 🙂
